Sometimes, the bond between friends is as strong as family. We are thrilled to introduce you to our next "family!" Meet Kenny and Nancy!
In 2005, Kenny sustained a traumatic brain injury after a fall from a ladder. He was initially in a coma and has been through years of rehab and recovery. His recovery was aided by his friend, Nancy. Kenny moved into the home Nancy owns, and the friends have shared living expenses ever since. This has been a win-win, since both Nancy and Kenny have limitations that prohibit them from full time employment.
Things were going very well until April of this year when Kenny had a stroke, and doctors discovered that his arteries were 75% blocked. He underwent several procedures and has been working with his health care providers to regain function. Prior to the stroke Kenny, was employed as a part-time personal driver, but he has been out of work since the stroke. Unfortunately, he will be unable to drive anytime soon, so he has been looking for part time work during his recovery. Currently, he has no income to contribute to his and Nancy's living expenses, which has them both financially strapped.
Kenny is a veteran and is currently waiting on VA benefits to be approved. Until then, they are in a dire situation financially, but we can help! While Kenny waits for his VA benefits to take effect and for a part-time employment offer, CUH can help ease his burden! They are behind on their PECO bill and are at risk of a shut-off. And they have little to go towards groceries and household goods. Let's rally around these friends to help keep them afloat until they receive the additional resources Kenny deserves for serving our country.
Kenny is a regularly active member of our community and the local AA community. He serves daily and makes sure coffee is taken care of for every meeting. He is one of the kindest souls and prides himself on service to others! Now it is the community's turn to serve him. Let us show these friends what we can do when we do it together!
"We are so humbled by your generosity and that of your kind donors. I hope to be able to reciprocate soon " Nancy and Kenny
