Karen's Story

Karen is a neighbor in need of assistance. Her health has been an ongoing issue for years - she has suffered a stroke and received a kidney transplant in the past couple of years and currently suffers from neuropathy and retinopathy - and she lost her husband suddenly and unexpectedly last year. Her ailments don't allow her to work and often keep her homebound. And since her husband's passing, Karen has been really struggling financially. Karen is registered with the non-profit HelpHopeLive (www.helphopelive.org) in the hopes of raising money toward the steep cost of neuropathy treatments. But her day to day living expenses are posing quite a challenge, as well.

She is grateful to still have her home, but her limited income is barely enough to cover the mortgage and utilities. She utilizes all available assistance from local, state, and federal programs, but with continued rising food prices and the expenses that go with home ownership, she continues to struggle.

Karen turned to Compassion United Havertown to see if we could help. We've put her in contact with some local agencies that offer discounted services, but she could use the help of our community, as well. Let's come together to provide Karen with a little relief! Groceries, household goods, and cash donations will show Karen that her neighbors are here to help when she needs it most!
