Isaacs Family Story

Updated: Mar 29

Once again, serious illness has struck a young child in our community and disrupted a Havertown family's life. We're hoping that you can again find it in your hearts to rally around them and show them that they are not alone during this struggle.

Our newest family is the Isaacs, a family of five.

The eldest of three children, six year old Emilia, loves school, dance class, swimming, gymnastics, slime, coloring, Doc McStuffins, Disney Princesses, Barbies, the color pink and, most especially, her younger siblings. She was in remission from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, but a few months ago her mom and dad received the heartbreaking news that the cancer is back.

Emilia's course of treatment will be over a grueling 18–24 month stretch of time. Extended hospital stays will require lots of flexibility for the rest of the family. Let's come together to bring a little light & love to the Isaacs Family. By helping with some basic needs and a few hot ready-made meals, they can fully focus on Emilia's medical treatment, as well as the care of their young family. We just want to reach out and give a huge heartfelt thank you to CUH for supporting our family and for the amazing generosity shown, including with all the great gifts, everyday goods and essentials, the meal train, the gift cards and financial support. These gifts have brought smiles to the faces of our kids and ourselves and are things which will be used by us for years to come. The everyday goods and financial support we received help immensely, especially during these times where the price of everything seems to keep going up.

We have said many times that the meal train was such a relief, having food delivered twice a week and loads of leftovers, it made for one less thing to deal with each day. Plus, the food was delicious!! And for the everyday essentials, it is great to have those things taken care of for a while so we can focus fully on Emilia’s treatment and our three kids overall. And for the kids especially, they really love the clothes and toys, and they played for hours after we received everything. It was really a big hit!

When we look back to the first time Emilia had leukemia which began in November 2021, we had very little support at that time. We didn’t really know anyone in the area because both Kathrin and me are not from Havertown or this region. So to have the incredible support from CUH, other organizations, as well as friends and neighbors who live in the area makes a world of difference. We feel much more secure and truly loved and supported going through treatment this time around.

In the end, we just want to thank CUH from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our village and on this cancer journey with us. When the leukemia came back for our 6 year old Emilia, it was stunning, terrifying and overwhelming for us and was really our worst fear. But the support we have received and felt from CUH and the rest of our community has helped us get through this challenging time. Further, it makes us feel grateful and lucky to be able to live and raise our three children in such a wonderful place as Havertown. We could have ended up in other towns but we are very happy to have found and settled in Havertown. We really can't say enough how appreciative we are and again, such a heartfelt thank you from all of us!
