Dan is a hard-working man. He and his wife, Amanda, and their grade-school aged daughter were living modestly as a two-income family just eight months ago. Then their lives changed in more ways than one.
First, Amanda was diagnosed with cancer. Her treatments and recovery have rendered her unable to work. And as he worried about Amanda and his daughter during this difficult diagnosis, he was contacted by CYS. His young niece, his sister's daughter, had no place to go and faced entering the foster-care system if Dan couldn't take her in. Despite their circumstances, Dan and Amanda immediately said "Yes," and their family of three became a family of four overnight! Their niece came to them with only the clothes on her back, but they never hesitated in providing her with necessities and a loving home, despite the cost.
Soon after, Dan's sister tragically passed away, leaving Dan with unexpected funeral expenses. Happily, Dan and Amanda were able to officially adopt their niece, but that came with unplanned financial expenses, as well.
The loss of Amanda's income, coupled with funeral expenses and adoption expenses, have Dan struggling to feed his family and provide them with some of their day to day needs. Despite Dan working overtime, this family is struggling to make ends meet.
Compassion United Havertown stepped in to help Dan and Amanda provide a special holiday for their girls, but their needs extend beyond the holidays. Let's continue the support of this family as they dig out from unimaginable circumstances and get back on their feet!
"Thank you for being there for our family! We really appreciate this beautiful community and all of your support. Your help means the world to us. We couldn't have gotten through this without all of you. You're a true inspiration. We’re so grateful for every donor's kindness! Everyone who has supported us has been invaluable. Everyone has lifted our spirits! We feel stronger because of all of you! Thank you, CUH, and everyone who has helped us through this.
Thank you so much"
