Life has been full of challenges for our next family, so we are thrilled to be able to jump in and provide some support!
Roseanne is our newest warrior momma! She was recently diagnosed with a rare uterine cancer and had an extensive 8 hour surgery with a hysterectomy, kidney removal, and bowel resection in an attempt to remove all of the cancer that could be found and could have spread. She has had numerous complications since surgery, and has been in and out of the hospital ever since. At one point during all this Roseanne lost her medical insurance, but luckily she had it reinstated before she incurred exorbitant medical bills.
Roseanne recently had a second opinion at Penn and has confidence in her new doctor. There is a 50% chance of the cancer returning, so Roseanne is at risk of having to sell her small business.
She has two teenage daughters living at home, one of whom has Down syndrome. The girls attend Haverford Township School District schools. Roseanne's oldest daughter lives on her own. Raising three girls by herself over the last fourteen years has been difficult and this diagnosis is an unexpected hurdle. Roseanne has been so brave to be able to share her story! We know that you are going to love this family and show up for them when it matters!
We will also have a "Helpers" text thread for Roseanne. If you sign up to be "on call" for errands for Roseanne for the next two weeks, you will send a text to Rachel at 12672010925 with your name and availability. We will send out a text with any daily needs, and, if we have a group of people, whoever answers the need first gets the job!
“I am so grateful to Rachel McGonigle for creating the Compassion United Havertown and for all the community members - some friends, many strangers – who have helped my family in our time of need. Your generous donations have allowed me to put my money towards medical bills rather than costly every day necessities. It is heartwarming to know there are so many good people out there just looking to help people. I will look forward to becoming a volunteer for Compassion United Havertown once I am fully recovered. “ - Roseanne
