Alex & Brittany's Story

Updated: Sep 26

ree

Last August, Alex and Brittany and their young daughter experienced the unthinkable. While driving home from a trip to the supermarket, Alex experienced a seizure behind the wheel. Brittany tried to steer them to safety, but ultimately they crashed into a telephone pole. Thankfully, their daughter was ok, and while Alex was bruised and traumatized by the ordeal, he walked away from the crash without terrible injuries. Brittany, though, suffered serious injuries that required multiple surgeries and intensive physical therapy.

After the accident, Alex had an MRI to help determine the cause of his seizure only to discover a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer with no set course of treatment. After radiation, he is now participating in a clinical drug trial in hopes of finding a treatment for his cancer.

Both Alex and Brittany have been out of work since the accident . While Brittany hopes to be able to eventually return to work as a 3rd year apprentice with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 19, she must still focus on her recovery at this time. Alex, too, will remain out of work for the foreseeable future. They are blessed to have a supportive family and a GoFundMe that has kept them in their home and helped with paying bills, but with both out of work, they need our help. With the help of CUH, Alex and Brittany can use the cash they've received to pay for their growing medical expenses and living expenses rather than worry about groceries and household needs. Let's show this young family what the power of community can do!

"Dear everyone with Compassion United Havertown, thank you so much for the extremely generous donations. We are beyond blown away and feel so blessed to have been touched by every one of you. We are gonna have paper towels, toilet paper or dish soap for a year ha ha ha! From the bottom of Brittany's, Scarlet's, and my hearts, thank you for everything!!!!" -Alex
